In Search of Sanctuary

Well, that settled it…

Breegan put on his clothes and—ignoring her shout of celebration which he thought was incredibly inappropriate…

He got himself a quick meal…

…and said good-bye to his son.

Then he went on his way in search of a new sanctuary. He rode around all day and well into the evening before he decided on…

…Here. They had that extra room with the comfortable bed. He could always go somewhere else to eat to avoid their appalling cooking.

He let himself right in and was confronted by the dreaded Brother-in-Law who was not happy to see Breegan.

And let him know it.

Breegan left immediately.

Feeling exhausted and hungry, he made his way to the next stop.

Neither Leighton, nor the Hag’s cars were there. Good. He could slip in, have a nice meal, a good rest and probably be out before they knew he was there.

He was greeted by Sam who happily let his mentor in and offered him a nice meal.

Things were fine until Leighton showed up, furious to see Breegan there.

And he also let him know it.

There were all new frustrations now.

Including the fact that the Hag had died.

The one person that cared most for Leighton was gone and now Breegan was in his house! The house she left him.

Breegan left for his next option. But after learning that the Hag was dead, there was one thing he wanted to do.

Dance on her grave.

After that burst of happiness, Breegan went on his way.

To his surprise, Pauline was actually home!

He asked if he could crash here for the night. (He would save his proposition for the next morning)

She happily let him in and let him stay…

The next morning he found a plate of burnt waffles to eat. He could see he would have to teach these two how to cook.

He asked to move in and was rebuffed.

The selfishness of this world was beyond description.

There was only one place left to go…
